She was born and raised in the winter capital of Poland, Zakopane. Polish Highlanders’ rich and strong culture has always been the main component of her DNA and helped shape her personality today. Maggie has always enjoyed sports and folklife as important pillars of everyday life.

She specialized in her undergraduate degree in Business Management and continued her studies at the University of Economics of Cracow, obtaining her Master’s Degree in Marketing & Management. She also has a minor degree in Arts. Upon completing her studies, her ambitious energy led her to own and run her own tourism business in Zakopane. After a few successful years of entrepreneurship, she realized that this career had limited growth opportunities.

Maggie heard for years about Canada from her mother’s numerous visits, this great country of opportunities, and decided to expand her horizons and go to Canada, not knowing if success would follow.

A positive approach, detailed planning, open-mindedness, persistence, hard work, and determination has continued to shape her way to success in Real Estate. Her career started over 10 years ago in a clerical position and continues to this day as a Broker at Re/Max Canada.

He has worked with about two dozen companies locally and globally. He has contributed to opening their businesses Internationally.

He is multi-talented and renders many of those talents for charitable and much-needed local and global causes.

He is a Master of Ceremonies, Host, Emcee, Event Planner, Singer, and Performer for many Red Carpet Galas and similar Events.

He is also an Author and a Gifted Facial Reader.

His Moto in life is: “Life is not measured by the amount of breaths we take, but by the moment that takes our breath away.”

Over the years she has been privileged to serve on various boards, committees and organizations.

Emily was a dedicated member and acted as President for many years with the Marie Curie Sklodowska Association, a Polish group of women that focused on supporting many charities, needy individuals, universities, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and provided an annual scholarship for young women in the science field.

Emily dedicated 40 years to fundraising for the building and expansion of Copernicus Lodge, a long-term care home for over 430 Polish seniors. She assists in the fostering of community and active living. The Copernicus auxiliary has raised over $1,500,000 to improve services at the not-for-profit home. At the age of 90, Emily still upholds an impressive volunteer life by continuing to manage a full-service grocery store at Copernicus Lodge and supporting the residents through regular events such as yard sales, barbecues, and Christmas bazaars.

Emily has contributed to many other worthy causes in her volunteer career as a member of the Katyn Memorial committee, President of the High Park Liberal Association, and a member of the Ontario Advisory Council on Multiculturalism.

Emily’s personal life is as awe-inspiring as her volunteering one. She established a successful family business with her husband while still leading a full and busy family life as the mother of four children and the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is a native Torontonian, a proud Canadian, and very thankful to the good Lord for granting her strength and perseverance in her endeavors.

This early cross-cultural exposure instilled within her the desire to learn from and serve people in marginalized communities.

She married Eleazar – her Mexican-American husband- in 1983. They headed to Guatemala in 1986 for a two-year stint in a remote village.

In 1988, the family moved to Parkdale, Oregon, where Eleazar pastored a Hispanic church, was a volunteer fireman and was a part-time schoolteacher. Lila ran a clothing bank, taught classes to migrant women and children, advocated for victims of domestic violence, taught bilingual prenatal classes, and sought housing solutions for homeless families. Both she and Eleazar were constantly called upon to assist their migrant friends’ efforts to achieve documentation in the USA. During this time, Lila joyfully homeschooled their growing brood of kids.

Eleven years later, Eleazar and Lila headed to Oaxaca, Mexico, where they lived for eighteen years. Lila continued homeschooling while their kids learned Spanish and thrived. She taught classes at the women’s prison, organized events to serve her community, wrote a book, and opened the only bookstore in their towe.

In 2009, Lila began serving as a volunteer doula at a government hospital. She witnessed shockingly poor medical practices, inadequate facilities, neglect, and even abuse of pregnant mothers. Most women giving birth in the hospital were subjected to “obstetrical violence,” leading to harmful interventions and unnecessary C-sections. But it was often the monolingual indigenous women who suffered the most as victims of racism. They couldn’t advocate for themselves within the Mexican healthcare system dominated by higher-socioeconomic-status Latinos.

What Oaxaca needed was a safe, natural, and compassionate birthing alternative! Catalyzed to action, Lila set up a non-profit, fundraised the initial $25,000, enlisted the help of a like-minded doctor, hired an administrator, and invited seven women to begin a doula-training program.

In January 2011, Casa Compasiva Birth Center opened its doors and began providing faith-based prenatal care and childbirth education (almost unheard of in Oaxaca!).

Through Casa Compasiva, vulnerable pregnant women and their families receive education about safe birth practices and are empowered to advocate for their rights within the healthcare system. Mothers give birth at Casa lovingly supported by midwives and doctors using evidence-based midwifery practices.

Local Oaxacan women are offered the opportunity to train as Casa Compasiva doulas, midwives, and clinic staff. These efforts effectively address the abuse and racism within the Mexican maternal health system.

Lila served as general director of Casa Compasiva for nine years. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2014, she and her family moved back to Canada/USA at the end of 2018. Under new leadership, Casa Compasiva continues to fulfill Lila’s vision of ministering God’s love through excellent maternal care.

Eleazar and Lila’s eight wonderful children serve as teachers, pastors, caregivers, and analysts worldwide. Lila continues to serve her family and community as her strength permits.

Prof. Anna Doboszyńska graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical Academy in Warsaw, Poland, in 1979 and has progressed through all levels of a distinguished scientific career. She began as a trainee doctor at the Petrochemical Hospital in Płock, then became an assistant and associate professor at the Pulmonology Clinic at the University Hospital in Warsaw. In 1986 she obtained her Ph.D. degree, and in 1997 a D.Sc postdoctoral degree.

While working at the Pulmonology Clinic, she also passed specialization exams in internal medicine, pulmonology, and allergology. In 2013, she was the first Polish woman to pass the exam and obtain the European Diploma in Adult Respiratory Medicine. Starting in 2000, Prof. Anna Doboszyńska headed internal and lung diseases departments in several hospitals in Warsaw. Since 2012, after winning the competition, she has been the head of the Pulmonology Clinic at Collegium Medicum at the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn, Poland.

From 2012-2019 she was the head of the Department of Nursing at UWM. She was the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Warsaw University of Medicine (WUM) and the Faculty of Health Sciences Dean at UWM from 2017-2019. She also spent three months as a Visiting Professor at the Medical University in Kuala Lumpur, Malesia.

Professor Anna Doboszyńska authored over 100 scientific and general publications, including textbooks for students, and co-authored chapters in other books and textbooks. She is also part of the development team in telemedicine, remotely using stethoscopes and other diagnostic instruments. As a scientist and a teacher, Prof. Anna Doboszyńska supervised dozens of Master’s Degree theses and ten doctorates. She was also a reviewer in 3 procedures for awarding the degree of D.Sc. (Habilitated Doctor). She has mentored several dozen doctors specializing in internal diseases, pulmonology, and allergology.

In 2021, in recognition of her scientific achievements, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded Anna Doboszyńska the title of full professor. Regardless of her exceptional achievements in science and education, the leading professional interest of Prof. Anna Doboszyńska is practicing medicine, treating the sick, and working in a hospital and outpatient clinic. Her priority always has been helping patients and their families. Professor Anna Doboszyńska’s scientific, teaching, and organizational achievements have been recognized by, among others, the Golden Cross of Merit (2012), individual awards of the 1st degree of the Rector of UWM (2018, 2017), and special recognition from the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw (2011), team awards from the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw and the Minister of Health, as well as awards of the Society of Pulmonary Diseases, the Polish Society of Internal Medicine, the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.

Travelling and photography are Prof. Anna Doboszyńska’s hobbies, which she sometimes combines with professional work. In the summer of 2010, she organized internships for students of the Medical University of Warsaw at the center for lepers, headed by Dr. Helena Pyz, in Jeevodaya, India. In 2011, she participated with students and volunteers in the Polish Medical Mission for Poles in Ukraine and Moldova. She presented her pictures from both trips at a special photo exhibition. Her photos also illustrate the textbooks for students and articles she publishes in scientific and popular magazines.

Her background is highlighted by many landmark achievements, including being Mississauga’s Citizen of the Year in 2002 and being named a Life Member of Gymnastics Mississauga. She received the Chairman’s Award from Heritage Mississauga in 2016.

Diane chaired the Mississauga Millennium Committee for the City, which organized a year-long celebration in anticipation of the turn of the century!

Diane is a Realtor and a member of the Mississauga Real Estate Board since 1980; she served as President in 1991. In 1995 she received the Board’s Sanderson Award, which honors outstanding realtors who volunteer in the Community while upholding the highest ideals of the realty profession.

Diane has contributed her time and expertise to many different community groups, including the Mississauga Sports Council since 1992 (Co-Chair for five years), Gymnastics Mississauga, the Citizens Task Force on the Future of Mississauga, Co-Chair with Chuck Ealey for the Mississauga Task Force on Sport, Interim Place – Women of Courage with Ron Duquette, Mississauga Community Foundation – Dancing with the Mississauga Stars.

As a member of the Mississauga Friendship Association, in 1996, Diane led a delegation to Mississauga’s twin city Kariya, Japan. She has visited Japan as a Mississauga ambassador, welcomed Japanese visitors into her home, and organized Kariya Day celebrations in Mississauga.

In 2018, the Mississauga City Council appointed Diane Kalenchuk and former Mayor Hazel McCallion to serve as volunteer Co-Chairs for the 2018 Ontario 55+ Summer Games Host Committee.

Currently, Diane is serving on the Mississauga Legends Row (Mississauga’s Walk of Fame), which celebrates and honors our City’s great citizens – past and present -.

Diane and her husband, John, have been married for 57 years and have been blessed with two children: John is married to Carole, and Kelley is married to Duane. They are proud to tell you about their four grandchildren: John Patrick, Kate, Kylie, and Konnor!

The new life was difficult, but I knew that at least I could provide my children with shelter and food. I was fluent in German; thus, I did not have problems with communication or getting a job. I applied to the Canadian Embassy to immigrate to Canada, and after over two years, my family received a landed immigrant visa.

We came to Canada on September 25, 1989. I was so excited; full of dreams and hope for a better future. I did not think about how we would survive without knowing English and, naively, I thought it would be very simple … but it was not.

My first impressions were very mixed – the architecture was very different than in Europe, everything was so big, yet, on the other hand, everything looked so approachable except for English. During the first few months, I communicated only in German. I got a job at the Palliser Furniture Factory. Most of the supervisors communicated in English and German, offering employment opportunities to many immigrants. The beginning of my independent life in Canada was unexpected and hard.

I started as a factory worker in the carpentry division. Since I never worked physically in the past, I really suffered psychologically and emotionally. Before coming to Canada, I worked in managerial positions for most of my professional life, and I felt that my skills and abilities were not utilized in the job. I worked like a robot. I did my duties and tried to occupy my mind by repeating English phrases I learned during the evening ESL classes. I survived.

After six months, I was accepted to an ESL day school and worked as a kitchen helper at the Salvation Army. I knew I had to study hard to accomplish my professional career goals, but that was not as easy. I was already 40 years old, divorced, and a single mother of two. I studied and studied but haven’t seen any progress I expected, and consequently, I became depressed. I started to believe that I would never speak English, have a decent job, and never utilize my skills in the job market. I spent over one year at home doing nothing, suffering from the symptoms of clinical depression, including nightmares. I remember this time like it was not really my life, like somebody else who lived in my body. I functioned only to supply my daughters with food and basic needs.

I was not aware of any resources for immigrants where I could receive comfort and support. I do not remember what it was that motivated me to take some action and go back to school. I just realized that I did not have any other options. The decision to change came as suddenly as my idea to emigrate from Poland.

Both of these decisions were painful but worthwhile.

My life changed completely when I was accepted for the Career Opportunities for Professional Immigrants program at a non-profit organization helping immigrant women. Then I started believing in myself, my abilities, skills, and qualities. I got a second chance at life, and I took it. I started from scratch.

I remember that my English improved every day. I established my career path and knew I wanted to dedicate my life to helping other immigrants and refugees adapt to the Canadian system. I worked for eleven months as a full-time volunteer helping immigrants build or rebuild their self-esteem and confidence. Many of my clients began leading successful lives and contributing to the Canadian economy.

I felt that I needed to return to the University of Manitoba and take evening courses to enhance my ability to assist immigrants and refugees. Even though it was very difficult, I graduated from the Human Resource Management and Participative Management Certificate Programs at the University of Manitoba and am proud to have achieved it. I was accepted for a Master’s in Public Administration, but I could not pursue that goal due to financial difficulties.

In 1999, I developed and established Newcomers Employment and Education Development Services (N.E.E.D.S.) Inc, where I have been working as the Executive Director and as C.E.O. since. I am also involved in political and community life in Canada, including the Canadian Polish Congress. In 2005 I was nominated for Woman of Distinguish by my employees. In 2018 Earned the Silver Award of Merit from the Canadian Polish Congress In 2018, Earned the Community and Charitable Giving Award from BMO’s Celebrating Women.

In 2018 Earned the Ubuntu Award by IDEA I couldn’t achieve it without the support of my family – my present husband and my two educated, wonderful daughters. I’m also proud of my granddaughters. I believe in new immigrants and refugees coming to Canada; I strongly believe in their abilities, talents, skills, motivation, enthusiasm, hard work, and commitment to their new country. They get a second chance to become who they want to be, contribute to Canadian culture and the economy, and grow together for the prosperity of our society and its people. I believe this because I was one of them, and my experiences have taught me anything is possible.

In her search for communication and artistic expression, she has explored and established herself as an outstanding performer in various musical styles and genres.

Her strongly varied repertoire extends from early and modern music, opera, oratorio to include operetta, music theatre, cabaret, and jazz. Her dramatic performances and credits include television and film.

Born in Poland, received her education at the School of Music and Dramatic Arts at the Music Theatre in Gdynia and the Music Academy in Wroclaw.

She has sung in Poland, France, Germany, Canada, and United States.

Passionately dedicated to her work, she is always striving for artistic excellence. This sensitive artist has graced audiences with a voice of a beautiful sound, great range, and flexibility that she uses and adjusts accordingly to the very diverse styles of her performances; charismatic stage presence, poise, and dramatic interpretations, and proven that she is equally at home with sultry Latin tempos and the edge of music theatre as she is with soaring operatic flights (particularly in her portrayals in the title roles of Bizet’s Carmen, Gluck’s Orfeus and Mozarts’ Idamante).

She participated in productions with many companies, including Summer Opera Lyric Theatre, Toronto Operetta Theatre, Opera in Concert, Opera Mississauga,  the Polish Canadian Society of Music, Polish Music Theatre in Toronto, Polonia Theatre, Music and Poetry Salon, and others. She was a long-standing Musica Antiqua Vocal Ensemble member for many years, a group specializing in oratorio and early music.

With her Singers On Stage company, she produced her own shows such as “Images” at the Premiere Dance Theatre, “On the Wings of Love” at the CBC Glenn Gould Studio, “Intimately Two Hearts” and “Body and Soul Tango Passion” at the Jane Mallet Theatre St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts – just to name the few.

She created, directed, produced, and performed in the Four Seasons Concert Series, presenting interesting, eclectic programming with various musical styles.

Margaret shared the stage with many renowned artists from both the classical and contemporary worlds of music. She has sung with Jose Feliciano, The Original Glenn Miller Orchestra, Hilario Duran, Quartango, Mariusz Kwiecien, Marek Balata, Irena Jarocka, Zbigniew Wodecki, Andrzej Rosiewicz, and others.

Ms. Maye and her BRAVO International company produced and promoted large-scale concerts with international star artists from Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Russia, USA, Canada, and Poland featuring talent such as Jose Feliciano, Pavlo,  The Original Glenn Miller Orchestra, London Beat, Bad Boys Blue, CC-Catch, Sandra, Savage, Haddaway, La Bouche, Zanna Bichevskaya, Hilario Duran, John Alcorn, Michael Ciufo, Marek Balata among others.

Margaret also had the pleasure of bringing and promoting in Canada entire theatre productions from Poland featuring famous Polish artists such as Piotr Fronczewski, Magda Zawadzka,  Zenon Laskowik, Jacek Fedorowicz, Tomasz Stockinger, Krzysztof Tyniec, Ewa Telega, Andrzej Strzelecki, Maciej Damięcki, Katarzyna Ucherska, Artur Dziurman, Michał Milowicz, Kasia Cichopek among others.

SOCIAL ACTIVISM

She has also demonstrated an ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for others in need, particularly those with epilepsy.

Since 1997, Margaret Maye, founder of Epilepsy Cure Initiative (ECI), has been active and unstoppable for the epilepsy cause ever since her son Thomas was stricken with his first epileptic seizure. She worked tirelessly with passion using her artistic and organizational talents to improve the quality of life of those inflicted with seizures and to support other charitable and socially beneficial causes. To eliminate stigma and discrimination from the public eye and work environment Ms. Maye aimed her efforts towards raising the epilepsy profile, creating public awareness and understanding of the scourge of epilepsy through advocacy, promotion, and education.

Some activities initiated and carried out by Margaret Maye include:

In 2010, Francisca began coordinating KEDHAP’s program to provide underwear and sanitary pads to girls coming from economically disadvantaged households. These supplies enable the young women to stay in school all month long, which gives them a chance to break the cycle of family poverty. This is not the only challenge they face, though, so Francisca prepares and leads group discussions on health, life skills, and other issues, in order to help them avoid early marriage and keep their dreams of a better future alive.

KEDHAP is also able to assist a certain number of bright but needy students, by paying their secondary school fees. Francisca monitors their academic and personal progress, organises peer support during school holidays, and is called upon in other ways to ensure the students are able to succeed.

Since she began working at KEDHAP, Ms. Ogaye’s role has expanded from Health and Education to include Female Empowerment and support to PLWHAs (Persons Living With HIV/AIDS). In the rural area in which KEDHAP operates, most people struggle to grow enough food for their families on very small farms, so KEDHAP began implementing a micro-lending program. Francisca facilitates financial training and acts as a resource person for groups of women as they use their knowledge and skills to begin small business ventures. She also delivers health education sessions for adolescent PLWHAs, and coordinates the provision of nutritional support and money for transportation which enables them to attend medical appointments.

Ms. Ogaye has continued to build her own skills by taking training when it is offered. She states that “My overall goal is to help all the groups I am working with eradicate poverty and raise the economy of their families. Most of them languish in poverty and I would really wish that their situation would change. I have been in this field for many years now and have gained a lot of experience regarding children. I would therefore wish to advise the girl child to take education seriously no matter the challenges they might be undergoing, so that they may be financially independent in future”.

Born in Bucharest, Romania at the age of 3 moved to Athens, Greece and lived there for 7 years and than moved to Canada at the age of 10. Her family was in the diplomatic service which is why, she has lived around the world, her family is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo; however she has never been there and hopes to visit one day. Patricia is fluent in French, English, Greek, Romanian, Swahili and basic Lingala.

Growing up in various countries and being very diverse, is what has led her to go into the field of International relations and diplomacy. She’s followed her own passion for diplomacy, has represented Canada at the 2018 UN Youth Assembly and UN Romania and other countries where she elevated her voice in international dialogues, empowered youth to advocate for future generations.

Patricia developed a project called Canada’s diversity advantage, which was designed to engage youth in an interactive sharing of multi-generational and a deeper understanding of the historic journey and importance of migration, diversity and inclusion in Canada.

She is the President of the Canadian Political Science Students’ Association & President for Generation Change International Partnership Platform which is an organization focusing on empowering the new voices of our generation, her goal is to partner with young leaders in all sectors, professionals and human rights defenders from all around the world. Patricia and her team’s most recent international project is taking place in South Asia. The project aims to help families who have lost their sole earning member by helping women and youngsters in making handbags. To today, they have representation in 11 countries, these countries are: Venezuela, USA, Canada, India, England, France, Philippines, Mexico, Colombia and Brazil.

Patricia is also on the International Service committee and actively participant of the Canadian International Council in the National Capital region.

Currently Patricia works as a Program Assistant with the Government of Canada in Ottawa Ontario and this year she had the opportunity to serve as the Ambassador of Canada at the UNYA this year in New York at the United Nations Headquarters and was part of the Global competence program.

She studied Political Science and specialized in international relations and Foreign Policy at the University of Manitoba, did foreign policy research at the Institute of Cultural diplomacy in Berlin, Germany – and Peace studies and conflict resolutions at the University of Ottawa.

Patricia hopes to be a diplomat in the very nearest future and continue to represent proudly her country of Canada.

Agnieszka successfully develops the company by launching new products, increasing quality by implementing the ISO 9001-2015 TUV Nord system and building her personal brand as a woman marking her presence in such a male-dominated industry.

In order to meet the requirements of the market, she constantly raises her qualifications, which recently included postgraduate MBA studies under Dr Mateusz Grzesiak in Warsaw and training in business psychology. These have not only benefited the company’s customers, but also brought in soft values, resulting in better human resource management. In order to broaden her operational knowledge, between 2004 and 2013 she completed training at the Association of Polish Mechanical Engineers and Technicians (SIMP) in the scope of seal operation selection.

While looking for new technologies, she participates in many foreign fairs, gaining knowledge and ideas that she implements in the company, which enables her to stay one step ahead of the competition. In 2020 she completed courses in meditation and spirituality with Dr Iliana Ramirez. In 2021 she received the Business Woman Award as the winner of the National Certification plebiscite. This year she has been awarded the Personality of the Year Certificate 2022 and nominated for Made in Poland 2022 by the Polish Agency for Entrepreneurship and the editors of the Entrepreneurship Forum and Business Pulse in Gazeta Wyborcza. She has been a passionate photographer for five years, developing her skills at photography workshops under the guidance of the best photographers in the world. A keen traveler who has visited 124 countries.

By the age of 12, Julie had read the Quran, the Bible, and the Torah to understand the rights of women through religious lens. Despite all obstacles, on October 16, 1986, her heaven on earth was discovered. A paradise where it hosts one of the most beautiful seven wonders of the world. She faced freedom on a beautiful day in autumn where grounds were covered by different colour leaves reflecting as a painting displayed in an Art Gallery. It was a magnificent portrait as she looked across Lake Ontario. Her sanctuary, her beloved country, her new home, Canada is where she found peace.

Julie went on to be the first Iranian student to win a High School award in Toronto. Julie gained academicsuccess, and used her platform to engage, motivate, and inspire women from all walks of life facing struggles and fighting for their rights. Julie has supported countless charities, labour, community, and international causes. She is keen on improving the social and economic outcomes for women.

She believes in solidarity and that our voices must be used as a light to walk towards fostering an equitable and inclusive environment across our nation. Julie’s advocacy is focused on where barriers are removed providing accessibilities and opportunities for girls and women. Together, they are building a hospital, which includes a dental clinic, and laboratory. They also began an auxiliary nursing school for their region.

When she moved to Nebaj, Carolina experienced a great deal of hardship and tension when connecting with these people who had limited trust due to being used by both opposing sides during the civil war in the 1990s (the gorilla factions and the government forces). Carolina continued to work, love, and serve the people of Nebaj regardless of these challenges. In 2005, she created a lab for the clinic which, together with other factors, enabled the clinic to become fully self-sufficient after 5 years. Through the clinic and her lab, they provide affordable care to the people. As the demand grew, Carolina had the idea to train a volunteer as an auxiliary nurse. This volunteer became the first nurse of over 1000 auxiliary nurses that would pass through the nursing school they founded in 2007.

Today, Carolina oversees the construction of the USD $3 million hospital build, the laboratory, and a home school for her and the hospital staff’s children so that they may gain a high-quality education. Carolina also has a strong Christian faith that pushes her to better the patients and community members that connect with her.

She then continued her post graduate studies while working as a clinical Pharmacist in Warsaw for a number of years. In 1980 she accepted a contract as a Pharmacist in a hospital in Libya and moved there with her family. There she learned Arabic so as to better assist her patients.

In 1986 Hanna, now in her 40s, moved with her family to Canada and set about the difficult task of learning English so as to pass the 5 Examinations require by the Ontario College of Pharmacy. With that achieved Hanna then started work at the world Famous Princess Margaret Hospital Cancer Centre in Toronto, where she then worked as a clinical Pharmacist for 32 years. During this time she helped Doctors design treatment, counselled and comforted her patients, and taught the practical aspects of pharmacy to University of Toronto students. Several service awards for service and dedication were given to Hanna from the Hospital, the University and her Patients.

Hanna has also given guidance to members of her community in matters of their personal health. After her work Hanna was always active and a leader, setting an example for others. From an early age Hanna learned to sail and it became a lifelong love. She introduced and encouraged others in the sport and was a founding member and executive of the Polish Canadian Yacht Club White Sail, gaining awards and international recognition for her dedication and work in her sailing community. She has sailed in many parts of the world and as a yacht owner still sails actively on Georgian Bay. Hanna has also been and still is an active kayaker, white water rafter, dancer, skier and health club member. And she has recently taken up zip lining and para sailing. Stay active she says.

All her life Hanna has enjoyed travelling and now retired, does so many weeks each year. She loves to see the magnificent parts of our planet and learn of the different cultures, and has visited 71 countries. She returns with many stories and guidance for those who would follow her shoes. To women she says: “You can move the mountains if you need to, to achieve your goal”

Caroline has an Honours Degree from the University of Toronto (UofT), is a certified Trichologist with the International Association of Trichologists (I.A.T), and a member of the World Trichology Society (WTS). She is also the president of the Canadian Hair Loss Council (CHLC), a non-profit organization that provides information and resources to both hair loss professionals and people experiencing hair loss.

Caroline completed her Trichology clinical training in England, the birthplace of this particular branch of dermatology. Caroline also studied nutrition at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition and has achieved certifications from CR Laboratories, Laboratoire Nature, and Italian Academy of Hair Microscopy. Carolineis proud to be the recipient of the Poland/Canada Chamber Excellence Award as Trichologist of the Year in 2019,  and in 2022, the Ronald Salinger Award in recognition of her contribution to Trichology around the world. Carolineis also the Program Director for the Truly You Academy, as well as the instructor for the Hair Practitioner Certificate Course (HPCC), a Trichology 3-day intensive training accredited by the International Association of Trichologists (IAT). Caroline is beyond passionate about hair and scalp health and aims to maintain strong relations with Dermatologists, Trichologists and Researchers worldwide. Caroline’s goal is to educate patients first and then work directly with them to repair their scalp, restore their hair and replenish their soul.

Shannon has spent 22 years teaching students in at-risk communities where she worked diligently to breakdown systemic barriers in order to provide equal opportunities for students and their families. As a business and life coach, she has helped numerous people reach both their personal and financial goals, helping them to transform limiting mindsets and transition them from employee to successful entrepreneur and create the life of their dreams.”

Mrs. Mercier believes that children and families should be given the opportunity to be educated in a second language; they should be able to do so without any restrictions. Her milestone not only bridged the gap between family and work, but also aided families to send their children to a well licensed establishment that specialized in the area of French.

Mrs. Mercier was determined to implement and built the first(1 st ) French Bilingual Childcare Centre in the Durham Region. In June of 2011, was the official grand opening of SKD French Bilingual Child Care Centre which catered full time childcare services to children between the ages of birth to13 years of age.

Vera is a valued community leader that takes ownership and takes a stand on important issues that will better the children, youth and families of our region. As a leader, Vera has successfully grown SKD Bilingual Child Care significantly over the past few years, moving from one location to over 14 locations, serving Oshawa, Ajax, Pickering, that all provide quality programming and care.

Over the past 4 years, Vera have had the privilege to serve on the board and elected member for the Durham Children Aid Society (DCAS) as Vice President, Vera is passionate about building community and relationships and is driven by her belief that equity deserving communities have the right to live their best lives free from oppression.  Her knowledge and depth of expertise has contributed to the strategic direction, thought leadership, advocacy for and awareness of anti- Black racism, equity, inclusion, and social justice in her community of Durham Region.

Vera collaborated with various communities, youth, families, civic and business leaders within the education, child welfare, criminal justice, municipal, and healthcare sectors to address anti- Black racism, anti-racism, and mental health. She has created and implemented strategic plans to embed diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Vera has work over 10 years working with children, youth and families and have always viewed her role as one of an agent of change charged with the ultimate goal of advancing equity and well-being while engaging the community and supporting families as they raise our future leaders. Each and every day she prioritizes anti-oppression, human rights, integrity, collaboration and communication. Award Achievement Black Canadian Award-Certificate of recognition as an organization of excellence and this was presented by the Diversity advancement network. 2014 Black Canadian awards recognizes SKD & Vera Mercier as Woman excellent Entrepreneur Awards of the Year First Bilingual daycare in Durham Region.

On October 21st 2022, Vera Won the Truillim Award for Outstanding Chief Financial Officer (CFO) award for 2022 at the PC convention

It was in 2021, under the leadership of Brad Wilson, that the rebranding of ImpactHope was accomplished with a new mission statement of seeking to actively participate in the mission of Jesus Christ by announcing the good news, alleviating suffering, pursuing justice, and bringing hope to the world. Today, as a movement of people, ImpactHope seeks to address poverty holistically by addressing the spiritual, relational, and material needs of the poor and disempowered in 10 countries and across 7 causes. They do this in two ways; (1) partner with grassroots leaders to develop projects to address the needs of their community and implement plans for sustainability and (2) encourage and facilitate the participation of Canadians in the work being done in the field. To date, they have sent over 3,000 people to serve their partner leaders abroad. Their donors and volunteers would describe them as having a serving culture. They do more than just financial aid and building infrastructure—we build communities, relationships, hope, and assurance in God. Representing the charity is Hannah Campbell who is their Director of Development. Hannah represents a new era for ImpactHope – an era of development and growth!

When we arrived in Canada, normal immigrants’ hardships didn’t get her down. She knew she needed to be around like-minded people. This led to the eventual discovery of a new group within the polish church. This group eventually transformed into the St. Eugene Hope for the Future. After their second meeting she was unanimously voted to be a leader within the group. That meeting was 25 years ago. Within that time her work has brought together experts and patients, helped us all discover new programs ran by the government. She also worked with airlines to bring in experts from other countries so that members of our foundation can all benefit from their expertise. Not to mention that in her spare time she always found time to listen, and always had a good word for everyone who needed it. The countless trips, birthday parties, and other outings improved life, allowed for fun, and enjoyment of a life free of worry and pain. She and her team organized many different types of fundraising events which enabled the foundation to provide financial aid for different types of therapy and equipment. People with disabilities are usually very isolated. Bozena worked to remove the effects of isolation to our members. Her caregiving nature also carried over into her work life as she worked in a kitchen of a group home and each time, she prepared a meal she thought of her own children and how it would taste to them. She made each meal as perfect as possible.

Nisreen was born in Syria and studied Academy of fine Arts programs. She came to Canada in 2006, Nisreen studied Fine Arts at Sheridan College and graduated with Honors and has a Visual Art Diploma from the ICS Canada. Artist statement My love for arts, colours and incredible beauty of Nature around me ,continually inspires me to express my impressions, observations and feelings through the playful use of acrylic paint and mixed media, I began MY journey from deep childhood, from a young age I was fond of arts creativity . After I realized that my favorite pastime was creating beautiful paintings Art to me is sacred as it gives me an opening to explore the manifestation of energy, , boldness, beauty and love for life. My painted reflections of experiencing beauty make me feels satisfying to be involved in creating and communicating with natural.

I primarily focus on colour and light in my work and paint landscapes, Floral in an Impressionist and abstract style. Experimenting with colour and texture allows me to translate my feelings to share their creative beauty. My strokes are bold, and I use a loose style in my paintings using brushes, palette knives or even my hands to express mood, movement and the rich beauty of my subject matter. I paint with acrylic and oil paint on canvas, panels, and have also created wall murals on indoor and outdoor walls.

Born in Toronto, her passion for the performing arts began at a young age. She began her musical journey playing the violin and the guitar, and took part in local theatre productions.

She completed an honours Dramatic Arts diploma at Cawthra Park Secondary School. She then completed an honours undergraduate degree at Ryerson University’s RTA School of Media (Radio and Television Arts), and has years of extensive experience in the Toronto media industry. Interested in languages, Karoline is fluent in English and Polish, and has also completed a Certificate of Proficiency in French at Ryerson University. During her undergraduate studies, she discovered her passion for classical singing through private lessons with Kinga Mitrowska, with whom she studies to this day.

Karoline has performed in concert in Canada and abroad, including with Toronto Concert Orchestra, Toronto Sinfonietta (solo concert engagements included Faure’s Requiem and Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace), Celebrity Symphony Orchestra, Ryerson Oakham House Choir, cycles of classical and musical theatre concerts organized by Kinga Mitrowska, Opera de San Miguel in Mexico, regular engagements at the Polish Consulate as well as Legislative Assembly of Ontario in Toronto, concerts with Symphony Orchestra of Zabrze Philharmonic, Silesian Philharmonic, and the All-Woman Salon Orchestra in Poland, as well as being featured as a soloist in the Congregation of Polish Choirs in Warsaw, Poland.

In 2019-2021, Karoline completed a Master’s degree in Opera Performance at the K. Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland, in the solo singing class of Ewa Biegas. There, she participated in several master classes with baritone Mariusz Kwiecień. In November 2019, Karoline had her operatic debut at Silesian Opera House, as Zuzia in the academic premiere of Stanislaw Moniuszko’s Verbum Nobile.

Following this success, in January 2020, she performed the role of Adele in Johann Strauss II’s operetta, Die Fledermaus, at Silesian Opera House. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, further scheduled roles and performances were canceled, including Mass in F by Józef Poniatowski, the role of Zdenka in W.

Lirski’s operetta Die liebe Unschuld, and concerts in Poland’s Pszczyna Castle. A successful competitor, Karoline won First Prize at the 2021 Polish Academy of Music Tournament at the Grand Theater in Łódź, declaring her the best soprano student in the country. She won the Audience Award at the XVII Great Tenor Gala Festival in Ciechocinek, Poland. In 2021, she was also a semifinalist at Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino, Italy (CLIP), a finalist at the Toronto Mozart Vocal Competition, the Light Opera Video Contest in Michigan, and the Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský International Singing Competition in Slovakia. In 2022, Karoline won in the Toronto-Buffalo District at the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and received an Encouragement Award at the Great Lakes Region Round. In 2021, Karoline was named as one of the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques of Théâtre Lyrichorégra 20, where she won several international engagements in the 2022/2023 season.

The engagements included: Opera de San Miguel in Mexico (which occurred in January 2022), Bulgaria National Opera and Ballet as Violetta in La Traviata (which occurred in March 2022); Teatro Coccia in Novara as Zerlina in Don Giovanni (which was unfortunately cancelled due to the pandemic), Augsburg Opera in Germany (which occurred in June 2022), as well as upcoming engagements in Italy’s Bologna Opera, France’s Massy Opera, the Bravo Music Chicago in the US, as well role study of Norina in Don Pasquale in Luxembourg coming up in August 2022.

Karoline has again been named as one of the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques of Théâtre Lyrichorégra 20, for the next season. Karoline has participated in various young artist programs, including the Stratford Summer Music Vocal Academy in the summer of 2021 and Sequenda Opera Studio of Luxembourg in the summer of 2022. In the 2022-2023 season, she is a young artist of the Atelier Lyrique of Opéra de Montréal.

Growing up with the desire to create and master visual arts, Evelyn quickly recognized her talents and went on to earn a Degree in the Art of Animation.

Evelyn now resides in Niagara falls, where she began a new journey. Her first experience in Niagara Falls was participating in the ‘Artists Discovery Program under the mentorship of Antoine Gaber. She currently sits on the Arts and Culture Committee in Niagara Falls for 4 years, is an Ambassador for Spark Innovations and is the featured artist of the Brilliant Minded Women’s Foundation and Organization. She is a mother of twin boys and a passionate, diverse entrepreneur. Evelyn recently launched her digital art production company Enlightened Art Inc, which helps bring ideas to life. Through the use of technology she is able to expand the boundaries of the mind to inspire, innovate and create new possibilities!

Saira is an advocate for self-worth and individual expression. Alongside her work commitments as a business owner and founder, she is a student. She is currently expanding her business to a Creative Consultancy Agency, which began as one 16-year-old Street-henna artist trying to fund her way into the arts within cultural barriers.

She is a second-generation Pakistani-Canadian, Shia-Muslim. She believes that titles can lead to expectations and deplete one’s ability to grow freely, be with one’s breath and live abundantly. She has forecasted to receive her Holistic Health Practitioner and Certified Reflexology licenses by November 1st, 2022, and plans to receive her RAT and RCC by the fall season of 2024.

She is actively creating workshops to help raise awareness for women’s mental health and Parkinson’s disease awareness with the annual SUPERWALK, Pakistan flood relieforganizations, brain health research, and decolonization of the woman’s body through her photo exhibit the ‘DNA PROJECT’ with photographer Tara Noelle.

While further researching the purpose of henna-based medicine and art,Sairahas built a seasonal program integrating NLP, medical intuition, holistic counseling, and art therapy to support the women at Sakeena Homes. Sakeena Homes is an NGO that helps support women facing domestic violence, refugee crisis,expats, and those seeking safety.

Since 2006, when she launched Breath of Henna at 18 years,Sairahas helped over 25,000 women (including trans and non-binary identifying women) with holistic-art therapy to support their overall performance and restore their inner belief system.

Sairais also a multi-disciplinary visual Artist with multiple creative extensions, including art direction, set design, commissioned art, costume design, and prop design. She is the founder of the Love Letter Community, which was created in March 2020 to connect sisters with sisters across continents. Her recent project, called ‘AZAADI 1981,’ which she directed, styled, and casted 19 creatives for, will be available to view comingJanuary 12th 2023 on the CBC docu-series ‘Bollywed’ highlighting the Singh family at Chandan Fashion.Sairaalso joined an incredible group of Pakistani Executive producers for a t.v series called ‘Get Up Aisha!’ which focuses on mental health within the South Asian Muslim community. This web-series is also to air on CBC GEM in 2023.This year was a proud moment of rediscovery ofSaira’s talents and growth as she has battled Anxiety, Depression, Workaholism, and Perfectionism.

Saira enjoys moments of rest and rejuvenation, solitude and deciphering her mind through art and bird watching.As a leader in the arts community,Sairahelps women reclaim their self-worth by providing them with a stage in which they can express their individuality and intersectionalities in a bicultural landscape.As a visual Artist her series, ‘A love letter deconstructed’ focuses on her personal stories of grief and heartbreak and how the pandemic revived her sense of self, personal power, and courage with the practice of love letter writing for the self. The series launched on February 5th, 2022, virtuallywith a sold-out show.

‘Art invites us to choreograph our emotions. It helps us to refuel and restore our well-being so that we can learn to move through the challenges within our life transitions. By understanding the individuality and intersectionality of women, we can help provide them with an actionable plan to shift their pre-conditioned notions around self-compassion and self-reliance.’

Besides running her own business and being a mom to her two amazing girls, she finds the time to support her favorite charity Million Dollar Smiles.

I grew up in a very large family, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, an aunt to 14, and a great aunt to 8. My mother was the glue in my family and always helped everyone in whatever way she could. I would bring every hurt friend and animal home to my mom, and she always found a way to make things better. The beautiful part of this story is now my two girls do the same with me.

I am the baby of the family, and with such a big difference in age with my siblings, I grew up like the eldest as I was the only one at home. Like anything being the youngest and oldest had its ups and downs. I felt like I grew up alone but was blessed in many other ways. I was given the opportunity to travel every summer with my parents. Both my parents are from the Caribbean, a small Island called St. Kitts, and we would go back every other summer for 4-6 weeks.

I have gone to college and university and worked in corporate and start-up companies as a consultant, trainer, and sales, but I always knew I wanted to own my own business so that when I had children, I could be home for them. I am grateful that I was able to accomplish both of my dreams.

She received an acceptance to Africa Nazarene University, among the best private universities in Africa. She is set to graduate in December 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications, Public Relations, and Media Studies. Throughout her university studies, she has been awarded honor role three times while participating in and leading multiple extracurricular clubs.

She dreams of completing her master’s degree and securing employment within the public relations sector. She hopes to mentor less fortunate children and girls as a bridge to their personal development and success. Evelyn says: “it only takes one person to believe in you; to make you know you can do whatever you want. I am where I am today because of KEDHAP and Hands Up Out of Poverty. May God bless all of you who have helped me towards my success.”

This means she has always tried to follow her dreams, whether graduating from general arts and science or media communications with full credentials.

While a student at Humber college, Justyna and her friends organized a bake sale in support of victims in Sri Lanka. Fast forward, when Justyna found out that one of the families in her close circle of friends was affected by the death of a young mother who left behind twin 5-year-old boys, she sprang to action organizing a go fund fundraiser, which helped them survive a hard time.

When Justyna’s friend needed a multi-faceted service dog, which could not be provided by an organization and needed to be trained privately, not only did Justyna help her raise the money needed she did so by contacting politicians such as Mr. Ford and the mayor of Toronto, John Tory, as well as sports teams like the raptors and the maple leaf’s. When it comes to her friends, she fears nothing, and embarrassment doesn’t exist. She had also been known to send prayer requests worldwide to hundreds of people, creating prayer groups and chains that extended boundaries and helped the people that required prayer assistance.

In the meantime, Justyna has worked at Canadian food for children, an organization sending aid to undeveloped countries overseas. Her most unique initiative was known as a school bag of happiness, where Justyna spread the word, and she and her friends raised enough money to purchase 50 new school bags full of supplies that went to El Salvador and Honduras as well as other undeveloped countries. Most recently, she has participated in the walk for dog guides.

The first year she participated in person by walking with her walker part way and then relying on her wheelchair. In the second year, she used her exercise bike every day for 41 days to complete the challenge of 336 km for dog guides and collected donations for the cause. She is currently working on a short story anthology entitled “Fragile Hearts,” which will be available for purchase early next year.

Time and again, Anita has shown her community what it looks like to change and edit her life story as many times as needed to get to where she is today.

After a car accident 10 years ago that left Anita with many physical challenges to overcome, she knew that this accident would be the catalyst for her stepping into a life devoted to serving others. As she continues to work toward her Master’s of Divinity as a 54-year-old student at Trinity College, Anita is reminded daily of the importance of her role as a social justice advocate who champions anyone who needs an empathetic ear or an outstretched hand.

Anita knows what it’s like to experience both deep valleys and mountaintop views, but the deep valleys have given her the ability to serve with a level of humility that makes others feel seen, heard, and loved right where they are. Working in tandem with God’s grace, Anita owns and operates Ethereal Energy Interfaith Officiants, where she gets to bring her deep roots of spiritual formation, extensive education, and compassion into people’s most cherished ceremonies. Anita has not just overcome many challenges but has used each one as a brick to build a sturdy foundation from which to serve. From here, she can show others what is possible for them in their own lives.
